Seán Villanueva O'Driscoll

Seán is a globally acclaimed climber and alpinist, renowned for his bold, visionary explorations of some of the world’s most remote and demanding mountain ranges.

He is perhaps best known for his groundbreaking ascents in Patagonia. In 2021, he completed one of the most iconic solo climbs in modern alpinism: the first-ever solo traverse of the Cerro Fitz Roy massif—a monumental, 5-kilometer ridgeline in southern Patagonia. He named the line The Moonwalk Traverse.

For this historic achievement, he was awarded the Piolet d’Or—the highest honor in the climbing world.

But beyond the accolades, Seán is equally admired for his humility, his infectious sense of humor, and the sheer joy he brings to climbing. His adventures are often captured in films that reflect his lightness of spirit and deep connection to the mountains.

With his rare fusion of technical mastery, creative vision, and life philosophy, Seán has secured his place among the most respected and influential climbers of his generation.
